I took a herpes blood test 5 months after possible exposure and the results came back negative. I am concerned about the accuracy of the test, however because my symptoms seem to match up with those that have this virus: tingling and burning sensations in legs, and arms and of course in the vaginal and anal areas. My question is: would a herpes blood test be accurate even without an outbreak? and I also had an alcoholic drink 5 minutes before being tested because I was nervous. Does this influence the results in any way?
